Why Asphalt
Asphalt offers many benefits over other types of pavement like concrete. Asphalt paving is a quick process, allowing for faster paving project completions. In addition to being a very cost effective option, if professionally installed and well maintained, asphalt can last for decades. Asphalt is also very resistant to cracking, as well as to wear and tear.The Paving Process
We have two different processes depending on the current condition of your project.
If we are simply resurfacing your project:
- 1. Our first step is to mill the existing surface. We will mill down to the preexisting base so that we can then replace the top layer of asphalt.
- 2. We will then sweep all remnants so that we have a clean surface, and then add a binding tack coat.
- 3. Finally, we will replace the top layer of asphalt, otherwise known as the wearing course.
If we are starting from scratch on your project:
- 1. Our first step would be to lay a stone base course to establish a solid foundation for your surface.
- 2. We will then compact the base course, and add a base layer on top of it.
- 3. We will then sweep all remnants so that we have a clean surface, and then add a binding tack coat.
- 4. Finally, we will lay the top layer of asphalt, otherwise known as the wearing course.
